Our water is what decides your finish
Southern Utah water is hard, and a pool is the place that shows it first. High mineral content drives scale onto tile lines and plaster, etches the wrong interior finish, and leaves a chalky band at the waterline that no amount of brushing removes. Two identical pools, one in a soft-water region and one here, will not age the same way. So the interior finish, the waterline tile, and the sanitation system are decisions we make around local water chemistry rather than defaults.
Heat is the second factor. Surface temperatures in July make deck material a comfort decision, not just a look. Evaporation runs high, so an oversized water feature can cost you real water volume every week. And equipment sitting in full afternoon sun works harder and fails earlier than the same equipment placed with a little shade.
The third is the ground itself. Soil conditions vary across the valley, and a shell has to be engineered for what is actually under your yard. We plan excavation, steel, and shell thickness around the site rather than pouring the same pool everywhere and hoping.

Pool and spa FAQs
How long does it take to build a pool?
A new pool runs in phases with inspections between them, so the schedule is driven as much by sign-offs and cure time as by labor. Excavation and shell go quickly, then plumbing, decking, tile, and interior finish each take their turn. We give you a phase by phase timeline in the written scope.
Gunite, fiberglass, or vinyl in Southern Utah?
Gunite or shotcrete for most builds here. It lets us shape the pool to your yard, handles our ground and temperature swings, and can be resurfaced decades later instead of replaced. Fiberglass can make sense for a small simple pool with good access. Vinyl liner is the least suited to this sun.
What does hard water do to a pool?
It drives scale onto tile and plaster and leaves a stubborn waterline band, and it will etch or discolor a finish that was not chosen for it. The fix is picking the interior finish, waterline tile, and sanitation system around local water chemistry from the start, plus a maintenance routine we walk you through at handover.
Can you remodel my existing pool instead?
Often yes. If the shell is structurally sound, replaster, new waterline tile, new coping, and updated equipment will make it feel like a new pool for far less disruption than a rebuild. We inspect the shell and are straight with you about whether it is worth it.
Do pools need a barrier or fence here?
Yes. Barrier, gate, and alarm requirements apply and are checked at inspection, and they vary a little between cities in Washington County. We design the barrier into the plan from the start so it is not an ugly afterthought bolted on at the end.
